All concept Art from Mobieus for the aborted Alejandro Jodorowsky 1976 version of “Dune”. With Mobieus in charge of Costume Design and Storyboarding, Chris Foss taking care of Spaceship’s and Vehicles and H.R.Giger creating the evil Harkonnen Homeworld + a Pink Floyd soundtrack & starring Mick Jagger and Salvador Dali amongst others! it goes without saying this is definitely the greatest film never made. The project stalled when funds dried up and other assorted spanners randomly flew into the creative machine. Truly a project of immense scope and scale – alas never to be, at least not in this Universe!
Read all you need to know about the project, see all the art, interviews and more at this amazing site: http://www.duneinfo.com/ - Thanks Dan for the tip on that! The Mobieus feature is at http://www.duneinfo.com/unseen/moebius.asp
It’s also well worth having a read about Alejandro Jodorowsky himself at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jodorowsky -

And the excellent io9.com http://io9.com/5088014/costume-designs-and-storyboards-from-the-dune-that-never-was

Chris Foss also did a lot of work on the planned picture. See: http://meinekleinefabrik.blogspot.com/2008/03/future-will-be-wrecked-but-gorgeous.html
Also worth noting is that Jodorowsky’s Dune was something of a mess really, and that eventually he went on to create the Metabaron comic book series, which contains much of what he wanted his Dune to be.
But even better, most of the design crew on his Dune–Giger, Foss, Moebius–went from that, to Ridley Scott’s doomed Dune project, to Alien. And thank you for that, I might add! Though I will always wish to be abruptly transported to a parallel universe in which everything is the same, except Scott’s Dune was made, and I get to watch it. Mmmm.
I’d seen the Giger vehicles for Dune before but never seen the others before. I’ll have to dig into this more later.
Funny… a friend of mine turned me on to your blog a couple of days ago, and I was about to let you know about my post on this film (and Moebius in particular), when I saw that you had discovered it for yourself! Very cool.
In case you’re interested, this is what I wrote here:

Love the rest of your blog.. will be visiting regularly from now on.
I especially like the guy on the left although he is not a drawn in a typical Mobieus style. Thanks for the link.
thanks for all the comments on here… I’ve updated the post and added some of Chris Foss’s work in a new post..

[...] Alejandro Jodorowsky’s ‘Dune’ is the great unmade 70’s scifi film. It’s greatness and it’s unmade-ness are, of course, directly related, but it remains an elusive vision of a different direction for scifi film to explore. If you’re in London for the next month you can check out this exhibition of concept artwork for the film, featuring artwork by Moebius, H.R Giger and Chris Foss alongside commissioned work made in response by three international contemporary artists Steven Claydon, Matthew Day Jackson and Vidya Gastaldon.
