Star Trek 2 “The Wrath Of Khan”

Dec 3rd, 2008 | Categories: Animated GIF | Graphics | Movie | Retro | Sci-Fi

Kobayashi Maru

Another example of early CGI, this time taken from Star Trek 2 “The Wrath of Khan” (Directed: Nicholas Meyer, 1982).

“Wrath of Khan’s” opening chapter starts with the infamous “Kobayashi Maru” simulation, from which this mechanical (and slightly trippy) Bridge-Screen visual is taken… Wicked film, with plenty of great quotes and the usual over acting, It’s generally regarded as best in the series, and it’s also probably the most accesable to non-trekkies.

Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khaaaaaaaaaaaaan!…is it?

  3. Well, if no-one else is going to say it, I will… again. It’s Star Trek… but I don’t know which one. Thinking 1 or 3.

“it’s good, but it’s not the one!”

Star Trek 2: the wrath of khan

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. From the opening sequence, where Lt. Saavik takes (and, of course, fails) the Kobayaski Maru simulation.

This is too easy. Not only a Trek film, but the best one: Wrath of Khan.

  9. Kie says:

Yeap indeed it’s from the “Kobayshi Maru” simulation from the opening chapter of Star Trek 2 “The Wrath of Khan” – yeah definitely the best of the series !

Is this the one where Chekov has that bug crawling in his ear?
If it is, I agree, by far the best Trek film. Followed closely by ‘First Contact’. Do you have any ‘Borg’ sketches? In particular the Borg ship which, if memory serves me resembles a poor piece of plumbing.

  12. Kie says:

Yeap it is the one with the ear slug…. oh and that Borg ship was like a bad pit of plumbing – no wonder it got wasted. I think by First Contact they had nice Spherical Shaped Spaceship – naturally more streamlined and therefore better on corners

  13. Chris H. says:

Nicholas Meyer, director, not Nic Roeg. I’m sure it would have made an interesting film if he had directed it mind…

Whoops that’s a clanger/school boy blogging error… I know that too!! your right though, would of been interesting !! Kirk getting all sweaty chasing Khan round Venice with the Genesis Device tucked away in a little red cape…..
