Hajime Sorayama - Gynoid

Hajime Sorayama – Gynoid.

Part of Sorayama’s “Gynoid” series of airbrush Illustrations, which involve the female form combined with chromed machinery, mainly in suggestive poses, that tend to veer to wards the explicit – suffice to say Sorayama’s has often been featured in Penthouse Magazine. Thanks to Kiel Bryant again for the scan of the original image.

Peter Elsom - The Rim Of Space

More 70′s / 80′s Retro Sci-Fi in the form of Book Cover Art, this striking piece was produced by the late Peter Elson (1947-1998). Peter was a British Illustrator whose work appeared on the covers of numerous science fiction paperback novels in a style not dissimilar to Chris Foss (also mentioned on this blog). Peter’s work had a heavy influence on the first version of the PC game “Homeworld” according to artists who worked on the title.

“Lucifer” Parisian Poster 1902

A 105 year old Screen Print, produced to advertise an event at a Parisian nightclub, or what ever the correct anachronism is. I have no info on the artist, the piece itself is in keeping with the style of the time, Art Nouveau and is similar to some of the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

Addendum Jan 2010:  ‘Lucifer Girl’ by Austrian artist Victor Schufinsky from 1904… thanks Samuel !
